I”m George Beck-Millan, but I go by Beck. My passion for music and drums started at an early age. After graduating from the Vienna Conservatory, I honed my skills performing with artists in my hometown of Vienna and across Europe, the Middle East, and the U.S. I’ve also played on over 50 recordings.
With more than two decades of teaching experience, I ran a drum studio in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before moving to Hawaii, where I call home. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to share the stage with notable artists like Wayne Brady, James Burton, Stu Hamm, Rocco Prestia, Hubert Tubbs, Christina Stuermer, Riya Davis, Connor Johnson, Mycle Wastman, and The Jay Keyz Project.
I’m also an AUTHOR and self-published the book Play As You Are and the Jon Evans thriller series, both of which are available on Amazon and Audible.
DRUM LESSONS & COACHING
Who do you teach?
I accept students of all levels, 16 years and older.
Where are the lessons?
I give lessons at West One Studios, 419 South St, Honolulu, HI 96813, Monday-Friday after 5 p.m., and Saturday after 9 a.m. The Studio entrance is on Pohukaina St., down a loading ramp, directly across from the Keauhou Place parking garage. Click here for a picture of the entrance.
What will I learn?
I tailor my lessons to each individual student, but I believe it’s important to establish a strong rhythmic foundation on the drums. I help you develop proper drumming techniques and get you to play along to your favorite songs as soon as possible. After all, I want my students to become great musicians, not just good drummers.
How much are the lessons?
$75 for a 50-minute lesson at West One Hawaii. The price includes studio and equipment fees, most study materials and music charts.
How can I pay you?
I accept cash (exact), Venmo, Apple Pay, and PayPal. No checks. No credit cards.
What if I have to cancel a lesson?
Please let me know ASAP if you can’t make a lesson/need to reschedule. Cancellations made within 24 hours of your scheduled class will be charged a $25 cancellation fee. No-shows will be charged the full price.
I don’t have a drum kit (yet). What do I need to get started?
- A pair of sticks
- A practice pad
Remote Classes/Zoom Lessons
To take Zoom drumming lessons, you will need a computer with a webcam and microphone, a reliable internet connection, a drum set, and ideally, a USB microphone for optimal sound quality; you should also adjust your Zoom settings to enable “Original Sound” to ensure I can hear the full dynamic range of your drumming. A full drum kit is ideal, but a practice pad(s) can be used for beginners and/or hand technique lessons. Download ZOOM.
